MILTON-FREEWATER – Marcella Grant, who was president of the American Legion Auxiliary, died April 17, 2007, at St. Mary Medical Center. She was 66.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel, 902 S. Main St., in Milton-Freewater. A private graveside service will follow at Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
One of 13 children, Mrs. Grant was born May 2, 1940, in Livingston, Mont., to Ralph and Rintha Kaiser Spring. She moved to this area in the late 1950s.
Mrs. Grant was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as president. She was frequently requested to coordinate the Rotary luncheons for the American Legion.
Mrs. Grant enjoyed dancing, fishing, woodworking and visiting her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Grant; daughters Janice Taylor of College Place, Wash., Cheryl Hendley and Rintha Grogan of Milton-Freewater; sons Bill Grant and James Elam of Milton-Freewater and Ralph Elam of Portland; stepdaughter Debra Fortney of Walla Walla; stepsons Kevin Grant of Richland, Wash., and Kirby Grant of Milton-Freewater; 11 siblings; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Norman Spring; and son Brian McCoy.
