Walla Walla – Raymond “Bud” Pettey died Nov. 7, 2006. He was 83.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 590 S.E. Elma Ave., in Salem.
Mr. Pettey was born Dec. 22, 1922, to Bruce and Maud Pettey in Roseburg. He graduated from high school in Drain.
Mr. Pettey served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then transferred to the U.S. Air Force.
He married Edith Ferguson on July 11, 1944.
Mr. Pettey received his degree in education at Oregon College of Education in Monmouth. He taught in schools throughout Oregon, including Banks, Woodburn, Brooks, and Ashland.
He enjoyed reading, rock hounding, woodworking, and collecting. He also enjoyed exploring the backroads and rivers in the Northwest.
Mr. Pettey is survived by his wife; daughter Janey Gould of Umatilla; sisters Lois Case of McMinnville and Doris Anderson of Ridgefield, Wash.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
