Guy J. Colon

HERMISTON – Guy J. Colon, 72, of Hermiston, died Friday, June 17, 2005, after a six month battle with cancer.

No funeral will be held. His sons will be taking him on a final fishing trip to Miami, Fla., this summer.

Mr. Colon was born Jan. 9, 1933, at Queens, N.Y., to Emil and Helen Colon.

After serving with the Navy he attended Hofstra University College in New York, and the University of Miami, Fla.

He was employed at Florida Power & Light for many years, and retired from 3M Laboratories after 30 years.

After retirement he settled at Hermiston to be near family. While in Hermiston he was employed by US Cellular in their booth at Wal-Mart.

He spent many years coaching his sons in their sports interests and in later years spent time with his sons fishing and camping.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jon and Tina Colon of Colfax, Calif., and Robert and Tammy Colon of Hermiston; grandchildren, Alison, Emily, Jacob and Dylan; sisters, Joan DeLapp and Gail DiCaterino, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
