‘Sahara’ not that great

“Sahara” the new film starring Matthew McConaughey and Penelope Cruz, in all honesty, wasn’t that great.

It could have been better than it was, but it simply went on too long. All of the best scenes were shown in all the previews.

Don’t get me wrong – it had it’s moments. It was far more humorous than I had expected, thanks in part to Steve Zahn’s role in the film. The cinematography was pretty good and the soundtrack had a cool Middle East sound to it. But scenery, music and sarcastic quips aside, it just didn’t keep me interested.

Both McConaughey and Cruz are great actors, though, and appeared to be having a good time together. The film went from one extreme to the other: Either it was completely dull, or insanely “over-the-top.” It just didn’t do it for me.

If you are a Penelope Cruz of Matthew McConaughey fan, though, you should probably see it. If not, I advise sitting this one out.
