HERMISTON – A celebration of life gathering for the family and friends of Steven Victor “Steve” Blackstock will be held from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at Panda Inn restaurant in Hermiston.
Mr. Blackstock, 52, of Hermiston, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at a friend’s cabin near Kamela.
He was born March 26, 1952, at Atlanta, Ga., to Norman Jean and Betty Jo Jones Blackstock. He was raised at Midwest City, Okla., and graduated from Midwest City High School.
He worked as an electrician on oil rigs when he lived in the South. He moved to Hermiston in 1981.
On Nov. 20, 1981, he married Kay Beaty at Walla Walla. They made their home at Hermiston, and Mr. Blackstock was employed as an electrician at Iowa Beef for almost 10 years. He retired in 1992 due to health reasons.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, going to hunting camp, helping others, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren,
Survivors include his wife, Kay Blackstock, of Hermiston; his mother, Betty Jackson and her husband, Robert, of Midwest City, Okla.; his daughter, Barbara Aylett, of Umatilla; sons: Bryan Blackstock and Brad Blackstock, both of Midwest City; brother, Mickey Blackstock, of Midwest City; sisters, Sandra “Sweety” Kellum in Georgia, Jean Goolsby in Florida, Diane Nichols, of Oklahoma City, Margaret Linker, of McLoud, Okla., Tammy Burchardt, of Midwest City and Melissa Pharis in Missouri; six grandchildren; two aunts, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Jean Blackstock.
