The entire family took in “Shark Tale” as a Sunday matinee. All thought the movie was great. It was short enough for TJ, who starts swinging on the bars if the movie runs too long.
The colors and music of “Shark Tale” are terrific. The characters portrayed resemble the actors – Will Smith, plays Oscar, the main character; Rene Zellweger plays the “nice girl,” Angie; and Angelina Jolie plays the “gold digger,” Lola. Robert DeNiro, Jack Black and Martin Scorcesi fill out the cast.

Oscar is a little fish in a big pond who dreams of being someone “big.” He works in the “whale wash.” Oscar is chased by “Frankie the Shark,” who is showing brother Lenny how to be a killer shark. Lenny is a vegetarian shark and can’t hurt a fly, much to his dad’s (the Don of the underwater) disgust. Frankie accidentally hits an anchor and dies.
Fish coming up on the scene think Oscar killed him and so he is labeled the “shark slayer” and is immediately “someone.” He moves to the penthouse, leaves little-girl-fish Angie for Lola and befriends Lenny who is afraid to go home.
It’s a great little movie and the puns are great: Shell phones; Coral Cola; Katie Current etc. The theater was packed. We will buy it when it comes out on DVD. We believe it’s right up there with “Finding Nemo.”
