Sarah Jane McMillan and Aaron R. Johnson of Pendleton were married Aug. 2, 2003, at the Free Methodist Church in Pendleton.

The Revs. Scott Little and Dave Eschelman performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Karolyn and Robert McMillan of Pendleton. Johnson is the son of Jacque Reader and Steve Robert Johnson of Umatilla.

Lacey Lichi of Indiana was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Stacey Simpson and Erika Hanson, both of California; Emily Duchek of Pendleton; Melissa Hartman of Boise and Sarah Butler of Linton, Ind. Bailey Bixler and Amanda Clarkson, the bride’s piano students of Pendleton, were flower girls.

Matt McConnel of Twin Falls, Idaho, was best man. The groom’s brothers, Kasey of Walla Walla and Jason of Idaho Falls, and Bill Golter of Boardman, Daniel Russell of Monmouth and Leonte Fineran of Puyallup, Wash., were groomsmen. The bride’s brothers, Michael and Andy McMillan of Pendleton, were ushers and candlelighters.

Special wedding music was provided by Sue Nelson, piano teacher of Pendleton, Karen Lange of Pendleton, Shauna Carmack of Bend and Amy Mullin of Pendleton.

The bride wore a white A-line dress with double spaghetti straps and a simple floral design down the back that split open on the train. Her layered veil was trimmed with a narrow rolled satin finish. She carried a bouquet of light pink roses with a cascade of Stefinota.

The bride graduated from Pendleton High School in 1996. She has a bachelor’s degree in music from Northwest Nazarene University and a master’s degree in education from Eastern Oregon State University. She works as a kindergarten teacher.

The bridegroom graduated from Umatilla High School in 1993. He has an associate’s degree from Blue Mountain Community College and a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement from Western Oregon State University. He works for the Pendleton Police Department.

A reception followed the wedding at Rice Park in Pendleton.

Following a wedding trip to Banff, Canada, the couple resides in Pendleton.
