HERMISTON – A funeral service for Christine Ann “Christy” Payne-Hugi will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston. Private inurnment will be at the Hermiston Cemetery.
Mrs. Payne-Hugi, 27, of Vancouver, Wash., died Monday, July 28, 2003, as the result of a motor vehicle accident near Chehalis, Wash.
She was born Sept. 2, 1975, at Umatilla, to Daniel and Nancy McNabb Payne. She was raised and attended schools in the Hermiston area, graduating from Hermiston High School in 1993.
She had been a resident of the Portland area for the last five years.
On Nov. 9, 2002, she married Kevin Hugi, at Vancouver, Wash.
She loved to sketch and design clothing. She made a long-time fantasy come true by traveling alone to New York City to visit all the places she had dreamed of.
She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, at the home; daughters, Tyra Hall and Savanna Hugi; her parents, Dan and Lori Payne of Hermiston and Nancy Griffith of Seattle; grandparents, Sandy Hugi of Portland, David and Jackie Payne of Hermiston, and Arnold and Shirley Baacs of Carson City, Nev., Herbert McNabb of Irrigon, and Jim and Pat Hall of Hermiston; a brother, Brent Barr of Seattle; sisters, Jennifer Payne and Shannon Payne, both of Hermiston, Lacey Barr and Sarah Griffith, both of Seattle; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Laura McNabb; and by aunts, Pam Payne and Sherry Hicks; and uncle, Gary Hall.
