Student works include charcoal drawings, watercolors, acrylics, photography, ceramics and pottery. Works were judged on creativity and expression, technique and craft and on presentation, said Palma Corral, gallery director.
“It’s important that students start showing their works now to gain experience for how to do it as a career and as a way to compare their work to others,” Corral said. “They need to pay attention to the artwork of the outside world.”
Student musicians Shawn Dudley and Kellen Dennett provided guitar music and vocals during Monday’s opening reception at the gallery.
Jamie Wilson’s watercolor, “Cowboy,” received the best of two-dimensional award. Honorable recognition for two-dimensional works was given to an untitled charcoal drawing by Stacy Hawkins and an untitled acrylic by Chris Marcum.
Brett Hall’s black and white photo, “Main Street Pendleton,” received the best of photography award. Honorable recognition for photography was given to “Photogram,” a black and white photo by Randellyn Bossom and to “Mining Relics,” a black and white photo by Brett Hall.
Shane Booth received the best of three-dimensional award for his untitled ceramic/clay sculpture. Honorable recognition for three-dimensional works was given to Jennifer Hegdal’s “Teapot,” and to Jenna Hall’s “Raku.”
