Grimy Pacino and castmates excellent in entertaining thriller

Colin Farrell does an amazing job portraying CIA-trainee James Clayton in the twisting, turning, high-tech spy feature, “The Recruit.”

The film is a successful combination of humor, romance and attitude. Add convincing performances by Al Pacino and Bridget Moynahan – who plays a character named Layla – and you have a recipe for success.

Despite this film being a little confusing at times, as spy-thrillers often are, it is highly entertaining.

The biggest problem I had with this film was the fact that Al Pacino’s personal hygiene seemed to be lacking. That, however, may have been part of the character, although I don’t see how or why.

If you like a film that makes you think, and you can handle a grimy Pacino, then this movie is for you.
