MOSES LAKE, Wash. – Janell Marie Edvalson Taylor, 47, a former Milton-Freewater resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Moses Lake, following a 10-year bout with multiple sclerosis.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. today in the chapel at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Moses Lake with burial at the Warden, Wash., cemetery.

Mrs. Taylor was the first baby born Jan. 1, 1956, at La Grande’s Grande Ronde Hospital, to Elmer and Glenda Curl Edvalson. She loved the family farm and when she was 9 years old, joined a 4-H livestock club. Her hog placed first at the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show and as a first year 4-H’er, she was named grand champion in the hog showmanship contest.

The family later moved to Walla Walla for two years, then settled at Milton-Freewater, where she graduated from McLoughlin High School in 1975. She was recipient of the Mac-Hi Citizenship Award for outstanding work with handicapped and senior citizens during her junior and senior years at the school and after high school she worked with the handicapped for the state of Oregon.

On May 7, 1977, she married Val Taylor at the Ogden, Utah, Church of Latter-day Saints Temple.

The couple lived on a dairy near Pasco, then at Othello, Wash., for a time before moving to Moses Lake where Mr. Taylor is employed as a herdsman on the Roylance Dairy Farm. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and mother.

She enjoyed camping, the mountains, nature, reading, music, family and playing with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, at the home; daughter, Alicia Taylor of Bellingham, Wash.; sons, Todd Taylor of Moses Lake, Brad Taylor of Bellingham, Wash., and Brian Taylor at the home; her parents, Elmer and Glenda Edvalson of Milton-Freewater; brother, Tom Edvalson of Benton City, Wash.; sisters, Lorraine Maughan of Spokane, Sherri Walton of Tigard, and Kelly Campbell of Spokane; and four grandchildren. A brother, Allen Edvalson, preceded her in death.
