Adams to unveil new City Hall and Library
ADAMS – People can see the remodeled Adams City Hall and Library in an open house and ribbon cutting Sunday, Oct. 6.
The historic building built in 1886 originally belonged to the International Order of Odd Fellows, said City Recorder Gilberta Lieuallen. The organization met on the second floor and the first floor was used by various businesses over the years.
The architecture firm of Gail Sargent developed the remodel plan, which was approved by the State Historic Preservation office in Salem.
The city raised $12,000 through fund-raisers like selling named bricks, said Lieuallen. Donations and grants from various foundations provided an additional $65,000.
The rest of the funding came from money set aside by the city, said Lieuallen. The total cost of the project was about $120,000, she estimated.
The open house will be 3 to 5 p.m. at the City Hall and Library. There will be free hot dogs, drinks and cake while it lasts.
