BMCC officials treated staff with disrespect

Comments made in the article regarding Blue Mountain Community College and the meeting held where the student from La Grande came expecting to see other students and the instructors gave the impression that instructors were somehow irresponsible or lax in their duties because they did not show up. In actuality, they were not aware of the meeting nor their need to attend.
Two were not even in the area, as they were taking care of personal family business. One of them involved emergency family issues with an aging parent. All during the preceding months of “negotiations,” the instructors were not told of the outcome except by others who had e-mail available.
There was written notification on Sept. 3 that indicated they were not sure of the outcome and it would be up to the Board. The “welcome” package was also sent to the instructors. The instructors were notified by e-mail from another employee that they had lost their jobs on Sept. 4. Then the following day the lovely article came out in the paper.
Today, when an instructor attempted to get a copy of his job description to look for a new job, it was learned he could not get into the office because the locks had all been changed. This is a very sad uncaring way to treat people who have worked together like family.
