Wild horse race a historic, important part of rodeo

I recently was informed that the Pendleton Round-Up has dropped Wild Horse Racing as one of its events. I was shocked that one of the most traditional and historic rodeos in this country would simply drop an event that has been part of Round-Up since its inception.
There are many rodeo fans who come to Pendleton because of its reputation for being the most authentic Western experience. I have been coming to Round-Up for more than 15 years now and I meet fans who travel from Europe, Asia, all over the world to see the Round-Up.
The rodeo always has a special significance because of its connection to history. Even the participants feel this way. I know Pendleton has fought many of the changes coming to rodeo in the past, and I for one would like to see wild horse racing back as part of the show.
If you think about it, someone had to gather up wild horses so they could have bucking stock for cowboys to ride for the bareback and saddle bronc events. It is an original rodeo event and should be part of the historic Pendleton Round-Up.
