PENDLETON – Michelle Munger is stressing the ‘more’ in Birds-n-More.
“A lot of people still think we’re just birds,” said Munger.

But now there’s reptiles, rodents, fish and tarantulas, too.
Munger purchased the pet store about a year ago and expanded its services and animals offered.
Two weeks ago, she also moved shop to Southwest Sixth Street, near City Hall.
The new site only has a large main room with large windows. “All the animals seem to like it a lot. They have windows to look at. Everybody’s got sunshine in the morning which is really good,” she said.
At the previous location on Dorion Avenue, many of the animals, such as parrots, were kept in back rooms. Some customers, Munger said, didn’t even realize there were back rooms there.
Getting more reptiles will be the next important change for the pet store, Munger said.

“Reptiles are a big thing right now,” she added. “Turtles, lizards, snakes, just about anything.”
Munger hopes the new animals will increase business, but she’s happy with how the business has turned out so far.
“I’m amazed how fast it’s grown. It’s a good opportunity,” she said.
Munger’s daughters help out at the store.
