From the editor’s desk: Plenty more work to be done

Holiday season marks a great time of year and as we look back on Thanksgiving, Christmas beckons just around the corner.
While the holidays are often a period where we slow down and take stock and reflect on the past year, for us in EO Media Group across the eastern swath of the state, our mission will remain the same. We aim to provide quality, local news on a regular basis.
We’ve recently made changes to our formats and the way we offer our new platform and I believe those modifications can, and do, create a more sustainable product that will be versatile and deliver the news product everyone has come to expect.
Change is never easy, no matter how or where it happens but I also believe change is good for a variety of reasons.
As we roll into the holiday season, I think it is important to note that whatever cosmetic and structural changes readers may encounter, the underlying theme for us remains the same — provide a quality product.
I think we do that already, but I also believe that an organization can never sit on its laurels, so to speak, and forget about striving for a goal of success. Success for us arrives in many forms but one piece of the larger triumph we continue to chase is that we are an energetic and flexible news organization that can respond to breaking news and provide in-depth, meaningful features.
So much of what we do centers on you, the reader. Our readers are the crucial pillar in our overall and future goals.
That’s why I like to stop, occasionally, and let our readers know that we will continue to keep them as the primary focus. As time slows down during the holiday season, it will not mean our newsrooms remove pressure from the gas pedal. We will continue to work hard to provide our readers with the best news product — both online and in print — that we can on a regular basis. We believe our role to be a big one in Eastern Oregon and we want to continue to enhance our ability to furnish news that our readers can use.
