Umatilla County reports two COVID-19 deaths, raising death toll to 50 since July

Umatilla County has reported two COVID-19 this week, raising the county’s pandemic death toll to 146 since March 2020.
Nine county residents who have contracted COVID-19 have reportedly died this mont, and 50 have died since the beginning of July, according to the county.
The disclosures come as the county reports 43 new COVID-19 cases. Cases have declined steadily from the record-breaking numbers of residents infected, hospitalized and killed over the summer months. It’s is on track to report a decline in cases for the third consecutive week, according to county data.
The county’s 145th victim is a 61-year-old woman who tested positive Sept. 30 and died Oct. 11 at Mid-Columbia Medical Center, The Dalles. She had unspecified underlying health conditions.
The county’s 146th victim is a 71-year-old woman who tested positive Oct. 4 and died Oct. 15 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Richland. She had unspecified underlying health conditions.
Since March 2020, Umatilla County has reported 14,440 confirmed and presumptive coronavirus cases, according to county data. That’s nearly one in five county residents.
