The application deadline is approaching for the Oregon Ag Fest’s second annual Agricultural Education Award.

The purpose is to reward student organizations, non-profit organizations or classrooms that promote and educate Oregonians about agriculture, according to the organization’s press release.

Applications are due March 15 and can be downloaded from the Oregon Ag Fest website, www.oragfest.com/resources/agaward.php .

Cash prizes totaling up to $2,000 may be awarded to as many as three winners.

Awards will be presented on stage during Oregon Ag Fest on Sunday, April 28. Award prizes will depend on quality of applications submitted.

“We were inspired by the applications we received last year and are proud to continue to support the agricultural education outreach efforts in 2013 with this award,” said Geoff Horning, Oregon Ag Fest chairman. “Oregon Ag Fest is dedicated to educating the public about the importance of agriculture, and we see this award as a way to encourage and support student groups that have programs and activities aimed to accomplish the same thing.”
