Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hermiston Public Library, 235 E. Gladys Ave.

SHIBA is part of a nationwide network to provide free information about national health insurance issues.

Cynthia Hylton, a SHIBA field officer, said many Oregon seniors have too much or inappropriate health insurance others dont get all their medical claims paid because theyre overwhelmed by the paperwork. SHIBA helps Oregons seniors avoid these pitfalls and enjoy all the benefits to which theyre entitled. Medicare isnt just for the elderly others with certain disabilities are also eligible.

Those who plan to attend are asked to sign up at the libraries in advance, so presenters know how many to expect and can bring enough handouts. Hylton said while advance registration is requested, no one will be turned away.

Phone numbers for the libraries involved include 541-567-2882, 541-966-0380 and 541-922-5704. For more information about SHIBA, go to www.oregon.gov/dcbs/shiba or call Hylton at 503-947-7090.
