PENDLETON The city will start sewer construction on N.W. Carden Avenue, the road Pendleton High School is on, just in time for school to start.
The construction will take place between the high school entrance and Highway 37 possibly through October. Although the project may cause traffic issues at the high school, the city decided it was best to wait until after Round-Up to start the project; Pendleton Schools this year moved its start date to Sept. 17 to begin after Round-Up.
Simmons said the road should still have room for two lanes during construction. He said Carden Avenue construction was delayed because the city was busy working on other projects this summer, such as lining pipes and fixing manholes along Tutuilla Creek. Hes recommending City Council to approve the project at its Sept. 4 meeting.
