PENDLETON The Pendleton Buckaroos will give the gridiron at PHS a dry run on Friday in preparation for the West Albany game that will open the season on Aug. 31.
The freshman through varsity teams will take the field for the Green and Gold Scrimmage starting at 4:15 p.m.
Sponsored by the Pendleton Linebackers Club, the scrimmage coincides with a tri-tip dinner fundraiser, which is included with the $10 ticket needed for admission. Tickets are available through any football player or at the gate.
The freshman squad will take the field at 4:15 p.m. and dinner will start being served at 4:30. At 4:45 the junior varsity will take the field for a half hour until the varsity unit finishes off the night.
Pendleton head coach Erik Davis said it will be a controlled scrimmage to limit injuries, but there will be plenty of full speed action since it will be his teams first chance to run his new offense outside the practice setting.
Were going to go hard, were going to go live, he said.
He said hes shooting for about 100 snaps total.
The varsity scrimmage will begin with the first team offense against the second team defense, then the defensive starters will get their chance to take on the offensive backups.
The final 15 minutes will be a game between teams picked by coaches to be as even as possible.
