Romney touted Ryan’s work with Sen. Ron Wyden on a policy paper on Medicare. Wyden says he stands by the paper he created with Paul Ryan, whom he calls a “good fella.”

“The fact of the matter is that Mitt Romney is the head of the ticket; he’s in charge, he calls the shots,” Wyden said earlier in the week. “And I haven’t seen any evidence that he would protect the Medicare guarantee.”

Wyden is also quick to point out it was just a policy paper, not legislation.

In other political news, The Oregonian newspaper announced in an editorial that it won’t endorse a presidential candidate this year. And in Port

land, mayoral candidate Charlie Hales proposed a state sales tax to help fund education.
