- Pendleton teenager Amyjane Brandhagen is remembered for the way she loved her friends and welcomed new people into her life.
Amyjane Nicole Brandhagen died Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the age of 19, the tragic victim of a homicide. She was born November 5, 1992, in Grants Pass, Ore. Amyjane attended Pendleton schools, graduating from Pendleton High School in 2011.
After high school, Amy joined Youth with a Mission (YWAM) for six months. Her first three months involved training in Los Angeles at YWAM’s Disciple Training School. She then traveled to India, Nepal, and Kathmandu for an additional three months, where she worked with children in poverty, the homeless, and visited the mission started by Mother Teresa. Amyjanes ministry was to reach the children with the love and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Her first project, upon returning to Pendleton, was to collect over 200 Bibles to ship back to the people she had met in India. Her next dream was to attend Bible school in Germany.
Amyjane worked part-time at both Subway and the Pendleton Travelodge. She wrote in her high school yearbook, I may not be able to change the world, but at least I can be a splash that starts the change. Amyjanes splash displayed itself in her love of people, color, and fun. She daily reached out to people, impacting them with her accepting, transparent, and loving spirit.
Amyjane is survived by her father and mother, Dave and Cathy Brandhagen, and her sister Lorabeth Brandhagen of Pendleton, Ore. Amyjane also leaves numerous friends all over the world.
Amyjane attended the Pendleton Free Methodist Church her entire life, and recently had been visiting Faith Center. The memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pendleton Free Methodist Church. Donations may be made to Lost and Found, Pendleton or YWAM Los Angeles. Memorials may be sent care of Burns Mortuary, P.O. Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801.
