MISSION You can check out the Umatilla National Forests new headquarters on the Umatilla Indian Reservation when Forest Service employees host an open house Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.
The Forest Service moved in March from the building it used for years in Pendleton to 72510 Coyote Road after striking a deal with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Dean Yoshina, acting forest supervisor, said in a written statement that employees have settled in.
Now were ready to invite the public in to see our new facility and learn more about the forests history, local recreation opportunities and current projects, he said.
Opening remarks will take place shortly after 5 p.m., and then guests are invited to mingle in the front office and conference rooms, browse the displays and publications, take a guided tour of the interior work space, enjoy refreshments and visit with forest employees.
