Pendleton will set a new standard for brilliancy and originality of festal attire during fair and Round-up week. It is planned to make the city one mass of waving color during the festival and to this end the fair board and the Round-up association have just entered into a contract with Goodman & company of Seattle, whereby those professional decorators are to superintend the work of arraying the city in her gala dress. Approximately forty blocks on Main, Court and Alta streets will be treated by these skilled adorners as well as the fair pavilion and Round-up park. The decoration scheme has already been decided upon and it will be the most elaborate ever undertaken by an eastern Oregon city. The entire length of Main street, Court street from the court house to Round-up park and Alta street from Cottonwood to Ash will be gay with flags, banners and bunting.

Robert Hawk, director of the Pendleton Technical Institute which is being absorbed by the newly organized Blue Mountain Community College, told the college board at a meeting here Wednesday night that he is receiving daily inquiries from prospective students. Hawk said he expected a larger enrollment in the community college when it opens Sept. 17 than the 200 that attended the Pendleton school last year.

Skateboards are plenty popular nowadays, but not in downtown Condon. The City Council has laid down the law no skateboards on Main Street between Court and Frazer streets, nor within one block east or west of that area, nor on the state highways within the city limits. The council enacted the emergency ordinance following a complaint from a Condon businessman who said he was almost run down by a skateboarder and a report that three young boys on skateboards had been hitching rides on pickups at the Condon Park. The council also revised another ordinance giving the city authority to impound bicycles, skateboards and other toy devices for up to 30 days.
